Probiotic Quiz: Would you benefit from taking probiotics?

Quiz: Should you take a probiotic?

QUIZ

  1. Do you consider yourself in good health, normally avoiding the cold or flu going around?
  2. Do you include fruits and vegetables daily?
  3. Do you elude symptoms of gas and/or bloating?
  4. Do you eat kimchi, sauerkraut, miso, or tempeh weekly?
  5. Are you free of allergies?
  6. Are you free of IBS symptoms?
  7. Do you incorporate yogurt or kefir or aged cheese daily?

ANSWERS

If you answered “no” to two or more of these questions, try to add prebiotics and probiotics to your diet. Start with yogurt, kefir, and aged cheese if you are able to tolerate dairy. If dairy is an issue for you, can you add kimchi, sauerkraut, miso, or tempeh? Focus on making your grains whole grains when possible, and if you like bananas, onions, garlic, soy beans, leeks, or artichokes but don’t find that you eat them regularly, be intentional about adding them to your cart next next time you grocery shop.

When to supplement

If your quiz results show low probiotic intake and you don’t feel optimistic about increasing your intake of yogurt, kefir, aged cheese, kimchi, sauerkraut, miso, or tempeh – then it may be a good idea to add a probiotic supplement to your routine.
