Going to the movies is a great past time. Especially in the summer when it’s just too hot to venture outside, going to an air-conditioned movie theatre with nice buttery popcorn and a great film is a good alternative. Although, sometimes, some movie theatre seats aren’t the most comfortable. A lot of the theatres are constructed these days like airplanes, in that the seats are all squished together and there is minimal legroom and pretty much no room to recline.
However, Cinema Pathé is looking to change this. The cinema, located in Switzerland, has recently opened their “VIP bedroom” screening room, which comes fitted with double beds, rather than the normal and confining movie theatre seats.
The aim of Cinema Pathé is basically to give you a movie-going experience that is similar to that of your own home cinema. The VIP bedroom section features 11 beds, all of which have adjustable headrests and soft bedsheets. There are even bedside tables where you can put your free popcorn and drink. That is correct, the drinks and popcorn are free. By paying $48.50 for the VIP experience, you get complimentary drinks and snacks along with your double bed.
The complimentary snack part is great since it means you get to save time waiting in a line.
In addition to this, every customer is given their own pair of slippers to round out the overall comfort of the experience. Now you might be thinking about hygiene, but Venanzio Di Bacco, the CEO of Pathé Switzerland assures customers that all the bed sheets are cleaned and replaced before every film.
Di Bacco says, “The hygiene aspect is very important to us.”
So, with everything taken care of, all that is left for the customer to do is enjoy watching a movie in bed. Just make sure you don’t fall asleep.
There are other Cinema Pathé VIP rooms which are pretty cool, some of which include a cinema with double sofas, an IMAX screen, as well as a kids’ cinema that is filled with bean bags, a ball pit, and a slide to use instead of stairs.
