You Can Stay In A Cabin Designed For Mars On The Hudson River In Upstate New York

Martian architecture has seen a lot of changes and improvements in recent years as we prepare for the habitable future of the red planet with all new materials, imaginative forms, and cutting edge concepts.

We can assume that whatever is good enough to someday make it to Mars, is good enough to stay on Earth as well. At least that’s the concept behind Tera – high-tech eco cabin meant for the Martian habitat.

AI Space Factory is the company to have designed the cylindrical cabin following the success of Marsha – their Mars-ready dwelling that won first place in the final phase of NASA’s 3D-printed Mars Habitat Challenge. Tera, the luxury eco-cabin, reformats all the novel qualities about Marsha and makes it Earth-friendly.

Tera is made from the same material as Marsha, which is a 3D-printed biopolymer basalt composite that comes from corn and sugar cane waste. AI Space Factory reveals the material is up to 50% stronger than concrete, while also reducing construction waste.

But there are differences as Tera will be smaller and more porous than Marsha. The egg-shaped pod will have diamond-shaped windows all on one side, while the other side remains opaque. On the interior, a circular living area has a small kitchen, living room, and bathroom. A curved staircase leads up to the bedroom.

When the construction of the pod is complete, it will sit along the Hudson River in upstate New York. It’s expected to be opened in March 2020, so interested travelers who wish to stay overnight in the pod can go ahead and prebook a stay on Indiegogo.
