You Can Get Paid $1,000 Just To Binge-Watch 15 Hours Of ‘The Office’

Binge-watching Netflix shows has been somewhat of a sport in recent years. If you like binge-watching and love The Office, you might just be able to put a little green in your pocket. Thanks to Dish, the satellite TV service provider, you can earn $1000 if you watch 15 hours of The Office in nine days. That’s 45 episodes, which is a cakewalk for anybody serious about binge-watching.

If you think that you will just be sitting in front of the TV mindlessly watching the show, however, you might want to think again. Dish explains it in the following way: “As you’re watching, you’ll need to complete a checklist that tallies the number of common tropes that occur throughout each episode. For instance, how many times does Stanley roll his eyes at the camera? How often does Phyllis talk about Bob Vance from Vance Refrigeration?”

Dish claims that the goal is to understand how popular sitcoms repeat popular tropes as the show goes on. The contest falls on the 15th anniversary of The Office and March is the official date. You might also like to know that you will get more than $1000. Dish will also provide you with The Office swag, including a Dundee, Jell-O, a World’s Best Boss coffee mug, and a gift card for Netflix.

“We’ll provide you with general guidelines to track your experience, but in true Kelly Kapoor fashion, we also want you to share your unfiltered opinions and reactions on social media. Think Meredith is a little predictable? Wish Toby had more lines? Let’s hear it!” the company said.

The Office is a mockumentary based on the UK show that carries the same name. The employees are working at a fictional and failing paper company, Dunder Mifflin, with their office in Scranton, Pennsylvania. A number of cast members came in and out of the series during the nine seasons but the primary characters were Steve Carrell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, and B.J. Novak, with popular stars like Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms, James Spader, and Ellie Kemper.

Not every season of The Office did as well as the others, but when they featured Steve Carrell, they tended to fall at the top of the list. They also won a number of awards, including four Prime Time Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. There were 201 total episodes.

“Think you fit the bill? Tell us why you’re the biggest Office fan in the world. Add a video submission to boost your chances. The best part? There’s zero drug testing or background checks involved (someone tell Creed). Just remember: you can’t apply on behalf of somebody else-identity theft is not a joke,” Dish signs off.

You can apply here, but make sure you do so by Monday, March 16 at 5 PM MST.
