Pull-Apart Garlic Butter Bundt Bread

I don’t make this bread too often, in part because it’s unofficially reserved for special occasions, like holidays, but that’s what makes it so special. This homemade bread, baked to a golden brown and layered with butter, herbs, and garlic, will undoubtedly shine at any dinner table. In fact, I usually make two of these because I know just how quickly it will disappear!

Making the dough is the first step, with flour, sugar, yeast, egg, oil, and salt. The dough comes together in our mixer then rests in order to rise. My trusty rolling pin shapes the dough into a square that I then cut into roughly equal sections.

Time for some butter, garlic, and parsley! I’ll pour half of my garlic-butter mixture into the bottom of the bundt pan, then I’ll layer the sections of dough, one just over the other. I cover the dish and let it rest again, this time for about an hour or so. The rest of the butter is poured over the top and this happy loaf of bread goes into the oven.

In 20 minutes, I pull out the most spectacular bundt bread, and my kitchen is filled with the irresistible aroma of this warm buttery garlic bread. Irresistibly golden, buttery, and garlicky, this bread is a delicious adornment to any dinner table, especially during the holiday season, but even on a weeknight when you have a little extra time. This is a pretty simple recipe, and while we could shortcut with some store-bought dough, there’s just something so fun, even a little bit nostalgic, about baking your own loaf of bread. This garlic butter pull-apart bundt bread is no exception. Homemade bread is always an exercise in patience, but each time we handle the dough, progress is made and the end result is a drool-worthy loaf of the most divine bread you’ve ever tasted.

Garlic Butter Bundt Bread

30 minutes active, 2 hours inactive to prepare serves 8-10


  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 8 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped


  1. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. To the bowl of a stand mixer, add the warm water, sugar, yeast, egg, oil, salt, and 2 cups of the flour.
  3. Using a dough hook, mix until combined. With mixer still running, gradually add more flour until dough comes away from sides of the bowl and forms a ball. Continue kneading for 3 more minutes.
  4. Cover bowl, and let rest until slightly puffy, 10-15 minutes.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, press the dough out into a 10x12-inch rectangle, about 1/2-inch thick. Cut the dough into a grid of 24 squares.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, garlic, and parsley. Pour half of the mixture into the bottom of a bundt pan.
  7. Take squares of dough, dipping them in the butter mixture in the bundt pan, and arrange them like fallen dominos in the pan.
  8. Cover pan and let dough rise until puffed, 45-60 minutes. Once risen, pour remaining butter mixture over the top of the bread.
  9. Bake until golden brown on top and cooked through, 20-25 minutes. Let rest 5 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Pull apart and enjoy!
