We don’t know about you, but chicken is definitely a staple around our house when it comes to preparing meals! It’s relatively inexpensive, it’s easy, it goes along with just about any side, and as you’ll see, there are dozens of ways to prepare it! Granted, some of these methods are better than others, but it’s still nice to know what your options are. Without further ado, here are thirty-two ways to cook a chicken breast!
Baked, Roasted, And Broiled
The classic way to cook a chicken is in the oven. There are three different methods: baked, roasted, and broiled. The difference between the three is the temperature and the time. Baked chicken goes in for longer at 350, roasted goes in at 425 for a shorter amount of time, and broiled is on high heat for just a few minutes.
Boiled, Poached, And Braised
Boiling chicken is never a good way to go. All of the fat and juices (the stuff that makes the chicken taste good) are taken out and pulled into the water, thus leaving you with a bland and rubbery chicken breast. Poached chicken is slightly better, in that usually the water has some seasonings in it. The main difference is that the chicken is added when the water is room temperature and then heats up along with the water. To get braised chicken, add a few veggies to a pan and then fill slightly with water. Braised is when the meat is only partially submerged. This is a great way to get a rich and flavorful chicken breast.
This might sound odd, but it’s actually quite delicious! By adding some garlic, rosemary, lemon, and a cinamon stick to some milk, you’ll end up with a delicous sauce that is half whey and half curd.
Fried, Country-Fried, And Tempura-Coated
These methods all involve frying the chicken breast in some compacity. The naked fried chicken breast is ok, though it usually turns out a little dry. Country-fried chicken is more your traditional fried chicken coated in flour and eggs and dipped in hot oil. The tempura-coated chicken is a lesser-known method, but equally delicious as fried chicken! The tempura batter is basically flour, eggs, baking soda and spices all mixed together to make a pancake-like batter. Dip the chicken in batter and get to frying!
Poulet Au Pain (AKA: Chicken Pop-Tart)
What’s not to love about this method? It’s chicken cooked in between two slices of butter, flakey puff pastery, topped with egg-wash to get the top nice and crispy. Delicious!
